FAQs

I'd like to see someone but where do i start?

There are a couple of ways to do this - it just depends on what works for you.  You can call our office direct and book an appointment.  Or you can go to your GP to discuss making a referral to our service.

Do I need a Mental Health care plan?

Not necessarily.  A Mental Health Care Plan will lessen the session fee as you will be able to access the Medicare rebate.  However, you are more than welcome to attend as a privately paying client and some Private Health Insurers also offer a rebate (check in with yours if you have one!).

My GP referred me to a Psychologist.  Do I have to see a Psychologist?

Nope.  We have a team of highly skilled allied health clinicians including Psychologists and Play Therapists.  Our clinicians bring with them a range of clinical approaches and experience.  We will work with you to match you with the clinician that will best work with you because, at the end of the day, that's what it's all about!

What is the first session like?

The feedback we regularly receive is that the first session is "not nearly as bad as I thought it would be!".  It's completely understandable to feel anxious about speaking with someone for the first time but your clinician will endeavor to make this as comfortable an experience as possible.

What do I need to bring to the first session?

Please bring your Medicare card, any relevant paperwork you have (including MAIB/Workers Compensation claim paperwork) and an open mind.

How long does each session take?

Standard session length is 50 minutes.  However, depending on what type of therapeutic framework your clinician uses, this may range from 50 - 90 minutes

Do you bulk bill?

Unfortunately, no.  We are not a bulk billing service.  However, we don't want finances to be an obstacle to accessing mental health support and, as such, we have a number of payment options we can discuss with you.

Parking?

Do you offer Telehealth appointments

Telehealth therapy sessions are available.  Our secure software will work on your smart phone, computer or tablet and you receive an email link prior to the session.

Medicare Rebate

Free parking for our North Hobart office is available on Argyle Street surrounding streets.  Parking is also free for our Sorell office with ample parking on Fitzroy Street and surrounding streets.

FAQ: FAQ

A Medicare rebate is available if you have a referral from a GP, psychiatrist or paediatrician.  Currently, this is available for 10 sessions per year.  Our Provisional Psychologists and Play Therapists are unable to provide a rebate at this time.
