Provisional Psychologist
Hi, I'm Kate, a provisionally registered psychologist working with Psyche Mental Health Centre. Since March last year I have been working on my psychology internship and as a provisionally registered psychologist in the area of trauma. I graduated from the University of New England in NSW in 2023. Before working as a provisionally registered psychologist I was employed as a counsellor for 15 years in the areas of trauma, mental health and health counselling.
I am particularly interested in working with adults, including those from the LGBTIQ+ community, and have specific interests in trauma (PTSD, CPTSD) attention deficit/ hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), depression, grief and loss, anxiety and autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
I like to provide a safe, genuine, compassionate therapeutic space where we can work creatively together on your needs and goals, hopefully sharing some laughs along the way. I use evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR) depending on which approach is most appropriate to your needs.
I like to exercise by gardening and walking my border collie (who is now aged 13) on the beach. I spend my other free time with family, listening to music and reading. Mostly at the moment I am busy with homework towards completing my internship, but after that I am hoping to do some more fun stuff.
