Allison Wells
(She/Her)
Director/Clinical Psychologist
Hi, I'm Allison Wells, Clinical Psychologist and Psyche Mental Health Centre's Clinical Director. I have worked in a variety of psychological roles after graduating from UTAS in 2010, finding myself spending time (working!) at Risdon Prison and within Adult Community Mental Health Services.
Until April 2020, I had been working on the Eastern Shore but decided to cross the Tasman Bridge to embrace what the Hobart west side has to offer. I have a specific interest in working with individuals to overcome trauma through Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR). I also use a variety of other therapeutic approaches such as CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Schema Therapy depending on what your needs are.
My approach is simple; just because life is grim, doesn't mean that therapy has to be too! I aim to provide a safe nurturing therapeutic space that also embrace all the fun, weird and wackiness that life tends to throw at us. Outside of work, I am a mum, an avid gym-goer and sport tragic (worshiping the ONLY AFL team that matters - Hawthorn!). I also enjoy music, craft and trying to keep indoor plants alive.
